DELHI
AM: New Delhi: The capital of the country has long been a phoenix rising again and again out of its ruins. Delhi is really seven cities in one, the first dating from the 11th century. See the famous Qutab minar-12th century 238 ft. high stone tower, indeed a masterpiece of construction, New Delhi was the creation of the British raj of the 30’s and includes the president’s house, parliament, India gate.
PM: Old Delhi: For something close to Rudyard Kipling, visit the 17th century old Delhi; Jama masjid – the biggest mosque in India. Rajghat memorial where father of the nation mahatma Gandhi was cremated.
DELHI/AGRA
Drive to Agra (200 kmr/04 hours), on arrival check-in at hotel.
PM: VISIT TAJ MAHAL (CLOSED ON FRIDAY): – Unquestionably the world’s most magnificent monument to over built in 17th century. A colossal, perfectly proportioned mass of white marble, it is literally a jewel, fashioned over 20 years of hundreds of skilled craftsmen and over 20,000 labourers to float like some fantastic mirage upon the Yamuna. Red Fort: The Agra fort was once the flourishing center of the Mughal dynasty, and four successive emperors helped to create its massive walls, within which Hindu and Muslim styles merge into a splendid fusion of military might and lavish beauty. Evening can enjoy optional, “Taj the mohabtain – the eternal love story” show set in very Bollywood style live dance drama with actors reliving the romance in making of Taj mahal, laser spectacle which ends with sudden replica of Taj Mahal emerging in the middle of stage. AGRA/JAIPUR
Drive to Jaipur (260 kms/05 hrs) enroute visit Fathepur Sikri OR Abhaneri.
Fatehpur Sikri: about 40 km from Agra lies the magnificent deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, the capital of great & loved emperor Akbar. During his brief stay here, a great complex of forts, palaces and mosques sprang up, but Akbar was finally forced to abandon his dream city due to scarcity of water, and it became a ghost town. This epic poem in sandstone lies `straddled across a rocky ridge, surrounded by immense walls with nine gates. Abhaneri: The small village of Abhaneri has one of India’s deepest and largest step wells (also known as tank gardens). Step wells are unique to India. They were used as cool places of resort, as pools for ritual cleansing before a temple visit and as a water supply for dry weather. There is a temple adjoining the step well.
Continue drive to Jaipur. On arr check in at hotel.
JAIPUR
AM: AMBER (PALACE) FORT: the original palace of the local rulers was built in the 17th century high up on a hill overlooking a lake, just below the vast and somber walls of the ancient fort of amber. The towers and domes of the amber palace are reminiscent of scenes from some fairy-tale. Its halls of victory is richly decorated with panels of alabaster with fine inlay work of tender colours. You ascend up the palace on board gaily caparisoned elephants, as did the maharajas of yore. (Optional elephant ride on direct payment of Usd 15 pp extra). PM: JAIPUR CITY: this 18th century city (capital of Rajasthan) is famed as “the pink city”, because of the local rose-pink-sandstone used in its construction. The fortifications give it a medieval atmosphere, but its well-planned layout is “modern”, built in 1728. visit maharaja’s city-palace, situated in the heart of the city with charming gardens surrounded by high walls; palace of winds (hawa mahal), a uniquely designed five -story structure with tiers of overhanging balconies of pink sandstone; maharaja jai Singh after whom the city was named, being a keen astronomer built an astronomical observatory which is still in use.In the evening Indian you can watch Movie at raj mandir on direct payment of Usd 04 PP.
JAIPUR/PUSHKAR
After breakfast drive to Pushkar (140 kms/03 hrs), on proceed to visit Pushkar.
Pm: Brahma temple – This is the only temple in the world where lord brahma is worshiped and the main attraction of Pushkar. The temple has a special position in Hindu pantheons. There is life-size four-armed idol of lord brahma – the creator in the vestibule. The temple has marble floors and stairs and coins have been put by the devotees to mark the birth or deaths of the loved ones . This is a very nice place. You can relax at the hotel overlooking the lake and visit local markets on foot. Overnight at the Hotel.
PUSHKAR/JODHPUR
Drive to Jodhpur (190 km/04 hours), on arrival proceed to visit .
pM: Jodhpur city: Ancient capital city of Marwar is surrounded by a stone wall (almost 9 kms in circumference) with seven gates separating it from the sands that stretch out on all sides. Dominating the city is a massive impregnable Mehrangarh fortress situated on a rocky scrapped hill. Within the fort walls are number of old palaces, with priceless jewels and interesting collection of arms. On the walls of entry gate are stone-palm-impressions of the widows, who ages ago immolated themselves upon the pyres of their departed husbands. JODHPUR/UDAIPUR
Drive to Udaipur (260 kms/05 hrs) visiting Ranakpur enroute.
Ranakpur: 90 kms from Udaipur in a quiet isolated glen, is a remarkable complex of jain temples of Ranakpur (1440ad). Built during the reign of the liberal and gifted monarch rana kumbha, these temples, though belonging to a late period (15th century), when the peak of the classical age was already past, are a unique example of jain religious architecture. The entire enclosure is encircled by a wall. One temple consists of 29 halls and 426 pillars full of sculptural decoration. No two pillars are alike here.
Continue drive to Udaipur. On arrival check-in at hotel.
UDAIPUR
Am: Eklingji Temple: 22kms. From Udaipur, Temple built in 734 A.D cut out of sandstone and marble. This is a complex of 108 Temples enclosed by High Walls. The Temple is devoted to this particular deity, which was worshipped by The Maharana's of Mewar. Nagda: Very close to Eklingji is Nagda, named after its founder Nagaditya and is one of the most ancient places in Mewar. There are Hindu and Jain Temples, notable among which is the Sas-Bahu Templed dedicated to Vishnu. Pm: Udaipur city: Visiting, city palace – situated on elevation on the eastern bank of lake pichola. Jagdish temple-close to the city palace is this 17th century temple dedicated to lord vishnu. Also visit Sahelion-ki-badi (Garden of friends). In the evening enjoy boat ride at Lake Pichola.
Pichhola Lake: The picturesque lake that entranced maharaja Udai singh. It was later enlarged by the founder. The lake is surrounded by hills, palaces, temples bathing ghats and embankments. Two island palaces, Jag mandir and Jag niwas on the lake are of breathtaking magnificence.
