APPLICATION FOR CANADIAN VISA – CHECKLIST

Personal documents of applicant

  • Copy of birth certificate
  • Copy of marriage certificate or copy of death certificate of spouse if applicable

Depending on your situation:

  • Letter from employer for holidays
  • Letter from school or university
  • Proof of self- Employment
  • Proof of funds available for stay – Bank statement(s) for the last 3 months, including current month, or deposit book(s) of applicant showing accumulated savings (It should reflect the funds available for your stay asked in application form)
  • Any additional financial relevant document such as employment letter, pay slips, proof of pension, business registration, investments, etc.

 If you are not paying for your own trip:

(If you are giving biometrics, you don’t need to submit 2 passport photos)

  • If you do not reside in your country of citizenship, please provide a copy your work permit or temporary stay permit.
  • Proposed flight itinerary (No paid booking, No paid reservation)
  • If staying in hotel, provide Hotel reservation

An original notarized parental consent statement for minor children (under 18 years of age) travelling unaccompanied by their parents or official guardians. If only one parent is travelling with a child then the other must submit a notarized consent letter signed by a Notary Public. This letter must specify whether a multiple or single-entry Temporary Resident Visa is to be issued, as well as the duration required.

For special urgent case (visiting someone who is very ill): Letter from hospital/ doctor stating the urgency (signed) + letter from applicant explaining the purpose of his urgent visit (signed).

For Business trip, please provide:

Business registration

Financial documents: for example: income tax statements, accounting documents, end of year financial  report, bank statements

Official invitation from your business contacts in Canada inviting you with all required information such as names, addresses, telephone and fax numbers, purpose and length of trip, and funding arrangements

For a conference, training or official visit, please provide:

Mission order (government), Verbal Note

Letter from your employer confirming your trip, stamped, signed and dated within the current month with a detailed  reason for travel, length of stay, and the position of the traveller

Official invitation from your Canadian contacts, including the names of the travellers and their positions,

Proof of registration for a conference

Proof of financial support for travel expenses, transportation and expenses during your stay in Canada.

Note: Any other documents can be submitted such as family, financial, employment, property ties, etc. in order to satisfy a visa officer that you will return to your country of residence after your visit.

Documents from host

Letter of invitation describing purpose of visit- must be signed (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/letter.asp) Proof of their status (permanent residence / citizenship / work permit / study permit)

Proof of employment (if applicable)

Proof of funds (if supporting applicant financially). These documents must be dated within three months of the date on which the application is submitted.

Copy of Birth / marriage certificates / children (if need to prove family relationship)

Payment for visa and biometric fees (if applicable) should be made on www.canada.ca and a copy of the receipt should be brought on the day the application is being submitted.

Payment for CVAC service charge and package transmission (if applicable) should be made in cash (exact amount) on the day the application is being submitted.

Application with biometrics Fee:

  • Visa fee of $100 CAD to be paid online on canada.ca
  • Biometric fees of $85 CAD to be paid online on canada.ca

You need to have a valid credit or debit card.

For Biometrics

You can only give your biometrics after you get a letter from us that tells you what to do.

To get this letter, pay the biometrics fee when you submit your application

IMPORTANT NOTES

Checklist –where applicable

  • Before you sign your visa application form, ensure that you have carefully complied with the checklist provided by the embassy
  • Make sure that the application is complete
  • When you are satisfied that you have correctly complete the visa application form and all of the relevant documentation are included, you should sign and date your visa application form.
  • Include the completed visa application checklist if available when you lodge your visa application form and relevant documentation.

Important information

  • Please be aware that the decision on your visa application may be based on the information and documentation that you include at the time of lodgement. Applicants may be asked by the embassy to provide additional documents.
  • The provision of false or misleading information or documents will have adverse effect on the outcome of the application and will delay processing
  • You may be asked to provide a certified copy of the documents, not the originals. Please be aware that any original documents you choose to provide may not be returned to you. If an original is required, the Immigration processing office will request this from you. All documents must be certified by the relevant authority if needed. Documents not in English must be accompanied by accredited English translations.

Please note effective 31st of July 2018, all Mauritian passport holders/citizens applying for a visa will have to come at our office in person to submit their application and give their biometrics unless exempted. The biometric exemption criteria will be for:

  • Children less than 14 years old
  • Old age person more than 79 years old.
  • Applicants who already gave their biometrics once within the last 10 years.

An appointment system will be used for applicants to come and submit their biometrics at the VAC. Applicant & Representative can book their appointment on the following website: https://www.vfsglobal.ca/Canada/Mauritius/English/biometrics.html

The scenario for Representatives will be as follows:

– Representative fill forms for each applicant –> Representative book biometric appointment on behalf of each applicant –> Applicant collect filled forms + biometric appointment letter from Representative –> Applicant show up 15 minutes before appointment at our office as mentioned on the biometric appointment letter –> If application is complete as per IRCC checklist, application/biometrics is accepted –> Application goes in process to the Canadian High Commission in Pretoria –> Passport returns back to Mauritius –> Applicant collect passports from our office.

For the moment, applicants & representative will need to book appointment by creating an account on our website which will be valid for one month after creation.

Below is an updated guideline/grid of visa fees & biometric fees & service charge, applicants will have to pay accordingly. Also, when filling the IMM5257E form, applicants will have to provide their own email address or their host in Canada email address.

The Government of Canada has requested us a change in the method of payment for visa and biometric fee. The change will be as follows:

Apply on paper application:

*      Applicants will have to pay the visa/biometric fee (if applicable) online directly on Canada Portal www.canada.ca<http://www.canada.ca>, then bring a copy of the receipt to the VAC along with application package during appointment. We will not accept any payment via bank transfer or cash at the counter for visa/biometrics fees.

*      Applicants will be required to pay an assisted service fee of Rs 455.00. This will be paid in Cash in exact amount. Applicant will have to pay the assisted service of Rs 455.00 each time the person comes at our counter for verification and submission of documents. Please ensure you complete all your clients’ forms accurately and they have the complete supporting documents, else we will charge your clients Rs 455.00 each time they have incomplete applications and come back at our counter for submission of documents.

Apply online:

*         Applicants submitting online application on www.canada.ca<http://www.canada.ca> have to pay passport transmission fee (if applicable) at the counter.

Kindly inform your clients & respective branches & stakeholders. An updated guideline has been attached for your reference.

All bank transfer for visa/biometric fee payment received as from tomorrow 18.02.2020 in our bank account will be refunded to applicants, they will have to pay the visa/biometric fee online and provide us with the receipt.

A kind reminder to book your appointments only when the documents are ready for submission and the client is able to come for submission of documents.

Updated Guidelines – Bank Draft phase out :

Please note the High Commission in Pretoria has phased out bank drafts for visa fee and biometric fee payment. Applicants will have the option to pay their visa fee/biometric fee online on www.canada.ca<https://webmail.iom.int/owa/redir.aspx?C=piH7hxkDLsVHqxV_tWfCdcR7SXagj7ISAu3rARUAxu3UP2ZTWYrWCA..&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.canada.ca> or at the VAC counter in Mauritian Rupees as published on their website accompanied by a GC fee Collection and Remittance published on our website.

What an applicant should submit :

Government of Canada has updated their visitor visa application forms and visa office instructions (IMM5791) on their website. Applicants / Representative of applicants will have to submit the following forms when applying for a visitor visa:

  2. CVAC service charge for Application Handling: to pay in cash and exact amount, no cheque no card (fee include Airway forth & back) Rs.2,886 (including VAT)

Monday to Friday – 9:00 to 13:00 and 14:00 to 16:00. We operate on a first come first serve basis.

New Visitor visa guideline + Introduction of CAN+ Program

Attached is the new visitor visa guideline & latest application forms.You will need to follow this guideline while preparing and submitting applications.

IRCC Global CAN+ Program:
Applicants who have travelled to Canada in the past ten years or who currently hold a valid non-immigrant visa for the United States of America must provide evidence of previous travel to Canada or evidence of their valid USA visa but do not need to provide evidence of financial support when submitting their Canadian temporary resident visa application.
