Beyond the big decisions that have to be made when travelling, it’s the little things that count which can make your travel less stressful.

  • Make a list
After booking your trip, sit down and make a list of everything you need to pack and everything important needed for you trip. This way, the chance of forgetting something important is close to none and you can go about your journey with everything you need with you.
  • Research on the local etiquette and language
One of the best things you can do when you’re planning on visiting a country, try to research some facts on the etiquette of that country. Simple tips like the way locals greet or the things not to do while visiting the country can make your trip way better. For instance, in Germany, it’s considered rude when you have your hands in your pockets while talking to someone. It would also be important to learn the tipping rules – in some countries some locals expect a certain percentage while others find it offensive.
  • Learn some basic local languages
Learning at least one keyword or phrase in the local language can be helpful. Even if you don’t sound like a native, the locals will still appreciate your efforts. It can also be helpful for you to get around as english is not spoken by everyone.
  • Always buy travel insurance
A travel insurance can always be a savior if ever you come across a problem during your trip for instance, if you get sick or injured during your trip, if your flight is cancelled or if you need to cancel your trip due to an emergency.
  • Make photocopies and print hard copies of important documents
Always keep a copy of your passport with you in case you lose the original one; you don’t want to forfeit a whole trip due to a silly mistake!
It’s also important to make hard copies of all important travel documents as you won’t get wifi everywhere. So it’s easier to have the hard copies in hand.
  • Save your hotel address in your phone
In case you find yourself lost or in some difficult situation, having your hotel address with you can be really helpful. You don’t want to get lost in an unknown country!
  • Always pack a first aid kit
A first-aid kit is an essential piece of equipment to carry with you when you’re going on an adventure. You can pack up some plasters, antiseptic wipes, painkillers and other things that can be useful to you.
  • Always have extra cash in hand
Just because you have your bank cards available doesn’t mean that they will be accepted at every establishment. It’s good to have some extra cash on hand in the local currency, especially for smaller purchases.
  • Research events and local festivals happening while you’re visiting
Being part of a country’s festival or event may make your journey much more interesting and memorable. So, always make sure to look for any events happening while you’re visiting the country.
  • Keep an open mind
It’s normal to have a culture shock when visiting a country that has a totally different culture but remember to have an open mind and always be respectful.
