US Government ends COVID-19 testing travel requirements

Dear Travel Partner,

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will no longer require pre-departure COVID-19 testing for United States bound air passengers from 12:01 a.m. ET 12 June, 2022.

The CDC cites high rates of vaccination and infection-induced immunity in the U.S. as reasons for this change in requirements.
It’s still recommended travellers take a viral test before departure to the U.S. and to not travel if they’re feeling sick.

In response to the announcement, Sean Doyle, British Airways’ Chairman and CEO said:

“We’re thrilled that our customers will finally be able to travel hassle-free to the 26 destinations we fly to in the US, without the need to take expensive and onerous tests. With the summer holidays fast approaching, customers can try out our new routes to Portland and Pittsburgh, popular destinations like Austin and New Orleans, and firm favourites like New York and Los Angeles.”

This summer, British Airways together with its Atlantic Joint Business partner American Airlines is offering the most extensive network between London and New York with up-to 15 daily departures. This is in addition to a combined 7 new routes and over 10 restarting across the AJB, with over 120 daily flights between key business markets across the U.S. and Europe.

British Airways has restarted non-stop services between London Heathrow and Nashville and Baltimore. Additionally, our sister airline Iberia has launched non-stop services between Madrid and Washington DC and Dallas Fort-Worth, and restarted services between Madrid and San Francisco.

We look forward to welcoming many more customers onboard as they return to travel and working closely with you – our valued partners.

Warmest regards,
